Vedo Systems on Monday named Rafael de la Torre as Director of Business Development. Rafael will report directly to Vedo Systems President Amanda Acevedo.

A seasoned veteran of the spaceflight industry with over 20 years of experience, de la Torre most recently served as Senior Manager of Lunar Lander Flight Software at Blue Origin, one of the world's leading commercial spaceflight companies. Previously, Rafael held leadership positions at Intuitive Machines, Odyssey Space Research and Emergent Space Technologies.

“We are thrilled to have Rafael join our senior leadership team! I’ve been fortunate to know Rafael for many years and see his experience in action. His skills go far beyond business growth. His ability to lead from within and look for new ways of tackling tough technical challenges is unmatched.” Acevedo said. “We are excited for our team, for our partners, and our commercial customers. Vedo Systems has many opportunities ahead with Rafael onboard. Welcome to the team, Rafael!”

Rafael will be responsible for developing Vedo Systems' business development strategies to expand the company's service work and product lines. This includes securing new opportunities while ensuring current commitments, as well as building and maintaining strategic partnerships, including alliances and venture investments that align with company goals.

“These are very exciting times for the spaceflight industry. We're experiencing a new space race that is fueled by the growing space economy and significant advances in technology,” de la Torre said. “I'm grateful for the opportunity to help Vedo Systems become a major player in this new golden age of space exploration.”

Rafael holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
